Pakistan and Tajikistan are preparing to strengthen cooperation in youth empowerment, skills development, employment and sports under a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The government has sought approval from the Federal Cabinet to sign the MoU between Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Youth Program and Tajikistan’s Committee of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The proposed agreement aims to establish a framework for cooperation in youth development and skills training, while creating greater employment opportunities for young people in both countries.
Under the proposed framework, the two sides will also encourage youth participation in policymaking and decision-making processes concerning issues affecting young people.
Sports will form another key area of cooperation, with Pakistan and Tajikistan planning joint competitions and sports programmes to promote physical activity, teamwork and interaction among youth.
The MoU also envisages exchanges between young leaders and policymakers from both countries. Such exchanges would provide opportunities to share experiences, discuss challenges faced by youth and develop policies aimed at addressing their needs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already granted political clearance to the draft MoU, while the Law Division has also cleared its text. The Prime Minister’s Youth Program has completed the required formalities.
The proposed cooperation is expected to expand opportunities for youth through skills development, employment, education, policy exchanges and sports, while also strengthening people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
The MoU will be signed after approval by the Federal Cabinet.
