605 Terrorist Incidents in KP Claim 138 Civilian Lives in Eight Months

CTD report shows sharp rise in militant attacks; police and civilians among heavy casualties, with Bannu worst affected.

PESHAWAR :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed 605 terrorist incidents in the first eight months of the year, resulting in the deaths of 138 citizens and injuries to 352 others, according to a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) report.

The report highlighted that 79 police personnel were martyred and 130 others injured in various attacks and encounters. It noted that 351 suspects were named in these incidents, of whom 32 were killed during operations, while five were taken into custody.

August recorded the highest surge in violence, with 129 incidents. These included the deaths of 17 civilians, injuries to 51, and the martyrdom of 13 police officials, while 46 others were wounded in confrontations with militants.

Bannu district was the worst hit in August, reporting 42 incidents. North Waziristan followed with 15, South Waziristan with 14, Dir with 11, while Dera Ismail Khan and Kurram each recorded eight incidents. The CTD report added that eight terrorists were killed in encounters during the previous month.
