Vancouver:
In a defining moment for cricket in North America, BC Place in Vancouver has officially been announced as the venue for the inaugural edition of the Canada Super 60, marking a powerful leap for the sport in Canada. This landmark decision brings world-class cricket to one of Canada’s most iconic and technologically advanced stadiums—offering a grand launchpad for both the men’s and women’s 10-over-a-side tournaments that make up the Super 60.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Vancouver, BC Place is more than just a venue — it’s a symbol of Canadian sporting excellence, having hosted the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games ceremonies, and ten Grey Cup Championships. With its retractable roof, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and global prestige, BC Place will now make history once again — becoming the first indoor stadium in the world to host a cricket league of this kind.

Cricketing legend and Canada Super 60 strategic partner Yuvraj Singh hailed the announcement with passion, calling BC Place a “theatre of dreams” for athletes. “The place you play in inspires how you play. Starting the journey of Canada Super 60 in this magnificent stadium will not only elevate the experience for players but spark a whole new cricket culture on the West Coast,” he said.

The Canada Super 60 is the first cricket league globally to launch with equal focus on men’s and women’s tournaments from the outset. It aims to transform the cricketing landscape in Canada and serve as a prototype for the sport’s long-term expansion across North America.

Cricket Canada President Amjad Bajwa expressed pride and optimism in the new partnership, stating, “Bringing cricket to BC Place sends a bold message about where the game is headed in Canada. We are investing in opportunity, visibility, and excellence as we prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Super 60 is a crucial part of that journey.”

BC Place General Manager Chris May echoed the enthusiasm, highlighting the venue’s commitment to diversity and innovation in sports. “Welcoming cricket to BC Place reflects the dynamic spirit of British Columbia. The Canada Super 60 allows us to engage new audiences and create an inclusive sporting experience that resonates across cultures.”

While official tournament dates and ticketing details are yet to be announced, excitement is building rapidly. With cricket ranking as the second-most-watched sport globally, Vancouver is poised to become a key hub for its North American future. The Canada Super 60 promises not only electrifying matchups but a transformative cultural moment — where sport, identity, and ambition converge under one roof.
