Mango Magic in Ankara: Pakistan’s King of Fruits Steals the Show

The Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara hosted Pakistan Mango Festival, offering guests an exquisite experience of Pakistan’s renowned mangoes. Celebrated for their exceptional sweetness, rich flavor, and captivating aroma, Pakistani mangoes continue to be a most cherished delicacy worldwide.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Dr. Yousaf Junaid underscored the exceptional quality of Pakistani mangoes and their esteemed status as the “king of fruits.” He highlighted Pakistan’s significant position in the global mango industry as one of the top producer of the fruit. The ambassador also paid tribute to the enduring legacy of Pakistani farmers, whose unwavering dedication have nurtured the nation’s fertile lands, giving rise to an extraordinary diversity of over 100 premium mango varieties—including Sindhri, Anwar Ratol, Langra, Maldah, Dusehri, and Fajri—each embodying the rich agricultural heritage and unparalleled bounty of Pakistan’s land.

Referring to Turkish appreciation for fine flavours, Ambassador Junaid stated that he is optimistic about the potential to significantly increase Pakistan’s mango exports to Turkiye.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ankara H.E Vasip Şahın commended the exceptional quality and rich taste of Pakistani mangoes. In his speech, he also highlighted the historic bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, underscoring the importance of cultural and economic cooperation that continues to strengthen the relationship between the two brotherly nations.

Throughout the event, guests savoured freshly sliced Chaunsa mangoes, Pakistan’s most popular variety, alongside an array of delectable mango-based culinary creations. These included luscious mango smoothies, velvety mango pudding, refreshing mango juice, mango shakes, and indulgent mango ice cream. Complementing the sweet offerings were savoury dishes such as mango chicken curry, mango salad, mango pickle, and traditional spinach served with maize bread, creating a harmonious blend of traditional Pakistani flavours.

The festival was attended by distinguished Turkish dignitaries, including Member Parliament Burhan Kaya Türk, DG SESRIC Ms. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk , Governor Ankara Vasip Şahin, Director General Cihad Erginay of Turkish MFA, members of the diplomatic corps; prominent businessmen, representatives from key Turkish organizations such as TUGIDER (Food Importers Association of Turkiye), TUROB (Turkish Hotel Association), leading retail chains and media.
