Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Issues Advisory for Tourists Amid Heavy Rains, Flood Risks

Travelers urged to avoid rivers, check road conditions, and carry essentials during monsoon spell.

PESHAWAR: The Tourism Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has issued a precautionary advisory in light of heavy monsoon rains and possible flooding across several districts of the province.

According to a press release, the ongoing spell poses risks of flash floods, overflowing streams, and landslides in various areas. Tourists and travelers have been strongly advised to avoid staying near rivers, streams, and mountain springs, and to maintain a safe distance of at least 20 feet from water channels.

The advisory further cautioned people against swimming during the season and warned drivers not to attempt crossing or driving close to flood streams. Authorities also requested the public to avoid dumping waste into rivers or streams.

Travelers heading towards northern areas have been urged to check the latest road and route conditions before setting out. They are also advised to keep essential items, including drinking water, dry food, torchlight, and a first-aid kit, during travel.

The Tourism Department emphasized the importance of staying updated on weather forecasts and strictly following advisories issued by KP Tourism Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
