ISLAMABAD : Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a two-day official visit, leading a 13-member delegation.
He was received at the federal capital by Additional Foreign Secretary Ali Gillani.
According to the Foreign Office, the Kazakh leader’s trip will set the stage for high-level engagements between the two countries. During his stay, Nurtleu is scheduled to hold a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, Senator Ishaq Dar, as well as participate in delegation-level talks between the two sides.
The visit marks an important development in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, particularly as it comes ahead of the proposed visit of Kazakhstan’s President to Pakistan in November. Officials said discussions will include preparations for the presidential trip, along with strengthening political, economic, and diplomatic cooperation.
Murat Nurtleu’s engagements will feature comprehensive discussions with senior Pakistani leadership. The delegation-level talks are expected to cover areas of mutual interest, including trade, regional connectivity, and investment opportunities.
Diplomatic officials highlighted that the current visit reflects both countries’ intent to expand bilateral cooperation. The two-day trip is being viewed as an important opportunity to build momentum ahead of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s upcoming visit.
The Foreign Office confirmed that the two nations are working closely to finalise agreements and initiatives to be taken up during the presidential trip in November.
