RAWALPINDI:
A high-level delegation from the Punjab Tourism Department visited Murree to review the hotel and restaurant licensing process and to energize the ongoing registration campaign with transparency and efficiency.
According to a spokesperson for the department, the visit was carried out under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who envisions boosting tourism and ensuring quality services for visitors. Secretary Tourism Punjab, Raja Jahangir Anwar, specially tasked the delegation with this field visit to the popular hill station.
The delegation included Deputy Secretary Tourism Amar Shakir Jaja, Deputy Controller of the Department of Tourist Services Hafiz Ghazanfar Ali, and other relevant officials. They conducted inspections of various hotels and restaurants, closely examining their licensing and registration procedures.
During the visit, the delegation also reviewed the performance, attendance, and reporting systems of Punjab Tourism Squad teams working in the field. The spokesperson highlighted that a robust accountability mechanism has been introduced, requiring mandatory daily performance reports from field teams.
Special task forces have been formed to expedite and streamline the hotel registration process, aiming to bring the hospitality sector under legal compliance while ensuring tourists receive high-quality facilities.
The delegation urged field teams to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and in full accordance with established policies, stressing zero tolerance for negligence.
Deputy Secretary Tourism Amar Shakir Jaja praised the dedication and hard work of field staff, emphasizing that the department, under the chief minister’s vision, is committed not only to regulating the hotel industry but also to upgrading Punjab’s tourism sector to meet international standards.
“This campaign will continue with an effective and transparent strategy to make Punjab a safe, reliable, and attractive hub for tourism,” he added.
