ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan has set up the Overseas Litigants Facilitation Cell (OLFC) at the Supreme Court’s Principal Seat to address challenges faced by overseas litigants in accessing justice. The initiative, effective immediately, aims to provide a single point of contact for expatriates seeking support in matters related to the Supreme Court.
According to a press release, the OLFC will be managed by the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Chief Justice. Overseas litigants can contact the cell through a dedicated WhatsApp number (+92 326 4442444, messages only) or via the online portal available on the Supreme Court’s official website.
The facility will assist in submitting petitions and grievances digitally, processing early hearing requests, providing case updates, and issuing certified copies of court orders electronically. It will also maintain a digital record of cases and submit periodic reports to the Chief Justice.
The OLFC is exclusively for matters within the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and does not extend to cases in other courts. It covers litigants residing abroad, regardless of nationality, who have the right to approach the Supreme Court.
This step, the statement added, underscores the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring that access to justice is not hindered by distance and that overseas litigants can effectively pursue their rights in Pakistan’s highest court.
