Chinese Foreign Minister Meets COAS Asim Munir: Pledge to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Pakistan and China reaffirm commitment to regional peace, security, and all-weather friendship.

Rawalpindi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with his delegation, met Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, reaffirming their commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.

According to ISPR, the meeting covered regional security, counter-terrorism, and matters of mutual interest. Both sides reiterated strengthening the all-weather strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation on regional and international forums.

The Chinese Foreign Minister assured continued support for Pakistan’s development and sovereignty, while Army Chief Asim Munir thanked China for its unwavering backing. The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Later, Wang Yi completed his two-day visit to Pakistan and was seen off by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the airport.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met Wang Yi, appreciating China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s development and security. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen its strategic partnership with China and praised President Xi Jinping’s leadership.

Wang Yi termed Pakistan as China’s “iron brother and all-weather strategic partner,” pledging to continue close cooperation for regional peace and development.

Separately, Wang Yi also met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where both discussed bilateral cooperation and regional security. President Zardari described China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and said that friendship with China remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
