SIALKOT: Chairman Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) Chaudhry Tariq Subhani announced that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, PLRA has launched revolutionary reforms to ease property transactions for overseas Pakistanis.
Addressing the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said that overseas Pakistanis can now buy and sell property directly through Pakistani embassies in their respective countries, starting from London. This facility will soon be extended to other countries with large Pakistani communities.
He explained that this initiative will save expatriates from the hassle of traveling to Pakistan, taking long leaves, and depending on patwaris. In the past, misuse of Power of Attorney often caused people to lose their hard-earned money.
PLRA has now introduced an international-standard system with an ownership audit trail. After NADRA verification of both the citizen and the land, a “Green Certificate” will be issued, ensuring the buyer that the property is legally protected and free of disputes. Properties not yet linked with NADRA records are also being brought into the system.
President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ikram-ul-Haq, congratulated Subhani on becoming PLRA Chairman, expressing hope that property transactions will now be secure and fraud-free for both expatriates and locals.
Additional Director General Farooq Akmal added that each Green Certificate will carry a geo-tag barcode, further enhancing land value and transaction transparency.
The meeting was attended by MPA Chaudhry Faisal Ikram, senior PLRA officials, and members of the Chamber of Commerce.
