05 days Anti Polio campaign NID kick starts in Rawalpindi Division

Rawalpindi : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak inaugurated the anti-polio campaign by administering polio vaccine to young children in Rawalpindi district. Similarly, the anti-polio campaign was started from today across the division. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, CEO Health Authority, Director Health, Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters, WHO representatives and other district officers were also present there.
After that he presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the third NID of this year. Engineer Aamir Khattak said that the district-wide anti-polio campaign will continue till November 1st, 2024. In the last four months, the environmental sample of Dhok Dalal was found positive 2 times and 03 times of Safdarabad. This is an alarming situation and it’s highly needed that children may be protected by administering these polio drops. He further said that eradication of polio is our national responsibility for which parents, teachers and scholars should be part of government efforts. He appealed to the parents to cooperate with the administration during the anti-polio campaign.
On this occasion, health department while giving a briefing said that during this anti-polio campaign, a target of 1 million 57 thousand 756 children has been set for polio vaccination. For said purpose, 3 thousand 717 mobile teams will perform the duties of door-to-door vaccination in the field. Likewise, 163 transits has been established for polio vaccination at bus stands, railway stations, main markets and various points of high traffic of children. Apart from this, facility of polio vaccination will be available at 330 fixed points i.e health centers across the district. It was further apprised in the briefing that 245 UCMOs and 870 area in-charges will perform their duties of vaccination during the polio campaign. Commissioner Rawalpindi critically reviewed the arrangements and while giving necessary instructions said that eradication of polio is the first priority in which no negligence will be tolerated.
